I can't hear sound play back after I record a message using a microphone or load a .wav file.

You may need to unplug your microphone and/or L*E*O to hear the sound play back. You should also check that the computer is using your sound card to play back sounds. To do this, open the Sounds and Audio Devices Control Panel and click the Audio tab. Make sure that your sound card is selected as the Default Device under Sound Playback.
